BRUMADINHO DAM RUPTURE IN THE STATE OF MINAS GERAIS IN BRAZIL

The disaster at the Brumadinho dam comes three years after the disaster in the Mariana dam, the biggest environmental tragedy in Brazil, which occurred in November 2015, both in the state of Minas Gerais.
The Brumadinho dam disaster on January 25, 2019, resulted in one of the largest disasters with mining waste in Brazil. The dam was controlled by Vale S.A., located 65 km from the capital of Minas Gerais, Belo Horizonte, classified as "low risk" and "high potential for damages".

The collapse of the dam resulted in a major disaster, with more than 150 dead and 200 missing. This may be considered the second largest industrial disaster of the century and the largest work accident in Brazil.

A total of 12 million cubic meters of waste has been released. The release of this chemical waste will have a negative impact on the entire ecosystem, that is, on the biological characteristics of the ecosystem in at least 4 Brazilian states.

EARTHQUAKE AND TSUNAMI CAUSE MORE THAN 2100 DEATHS 5000 DISAPPEARED AND THOUSANDS OF INJURIES IN INDONESIA

An earthquake measuring 7.5 on the Richter scale rocked the sea region of Sulawesi Tengah in Indonesia, followed by a tsunami with waves reaching as high as 6 meters.

The earthquake had the epicenter 80 km from the coastal city of Palu, capital of central Sulawesi province. In the city, the scene is of destruction, from ruined houses, impassable streets due to the wreckage of buildings, tree trunks, electricity lines, ruined automobiles, many bodies of mortal victims, mainly along the coast where a festival organized on the beach at which point the waves reached the earth.
Indonesian authorities have found more than 2100 victims after the disaster, and fear that 5000 victims have disappeared under the rubble of several neighborhoods that have sunk into the earth when the quakes have turned the soil into quicksand. Due to the very large number of victims, mainly in the city of Palu, a relief helicopter has distilled liquid disinfectant over several areas of the city as a preventive measure.
Photographs and videos shared on social networks show the earth shaking and the waves crashing violently along the coast of Palu, following a wave of destruction (video: https://www.youtube.com/watch? v = OovnBcue2uc). The UN estimates that 191,000 people are in urgent need of help after the earthquake and tsunami, and the European Union has announced that it will move on with 1.5 million euros for humanitarian aid. Thousands of volunteers are starting to arrive in the country to help supply essential goods such as food, shelter, water, medical and health products. The dead began to be buried in a common grave.
