Statement | Storm Kristin

On 30 January, the CERU – European Centre for Urban Risks sent a letter to the Minister of Internal Administration, offering technical and scientific support on matters related to damage assessment, spatial planning, disaster mitigation, and disaster management.

On 1 February, CERU, together with the Linda-a-Pastora Volunteer Firefighters, delivered essential goods and support to affected communities in Marinha Grande and Ourém.
The needs are significant, the damage extensive, and recovery will be long.

This is a moment to draw lessons from the recorded consequences and integrate disaster risk management into rehabilitation processes, strengthening preparedness and the resilience of territories and communities in the face of extreme events that will inevitably occur again.
