CERU is organising a scientific session at the ESC2026 Conference (6–11 September 2026, Turkey)

We are pleased to announce the organization of a Scientific Session at the ESC2026 | European Seismological Commission 40th General Assembly, which will take place in Istanbul, Türkiye, 6 to 11 September 2026, entitled “Risk Communication and Knowledge Transfer for Disaster Resilience: Practices, Challenges, and Innovations”

ffective risk communication and knowledge transfer are essential for transforming scientific insights into actionable decisions that strengthen disaster resilience. This session focuses on how seismic and disaster-related knowledge is communicated, shared, and applied across science, policy, practice, and communities.

The session brings together contributions addressing real-world practices, critical challenges, and innovative approaches in communicating risk, fostering dialogue between experts and non-expert audiences, and bridging the gap between research outcomes and their practical implementation. Topics include co-production of knowledge, stakeholder engagement, education and outreach strategies, and lessons learned from operational and policy-oriented contexts.

By highlighting experiences from different sectors and disciplines, this session provides a platform to exchange perspectives on what works, what doesn’t, and what needs to change in order to improve disaster preparedness, response, and long-term resilience.

Abstract submissions are welcome until 15 March 2026.
